The newly-formed TCS Debating Team had great success in the Cherwell Democracy Challenge on Friday, winning both of their debates on abuse in social media and private providers in the NHS, tying for second place overall. Whilst they did not take part in the final debate they were highly commended by the judges who singled them out for praise during adjudication as having achieved the highest score for Teamwork of any of the competitors.
They equitted themselves admirably both in the debates and during discussions with other teams, the judges, and MP Victoria Prentis. The team are already looking forward to competing again next year and in the meantime invite other P16 students to come along to Debating Society where we’ll next be debating the divisive and emotive motion: This House believes all public playing of Christmas music should be banned until 1st Dec.
