Personal Development
Our curriculum extends beyond the academic, technical and vocational. We look to develop in many diverse aspects of life. We understand it plays a crucial role in preparing pupils for their adult lives, teaching them to understand how to engage with society and providing them with plentiful opportunities to do so.
The Personal Development curriculum is a key area where this happens, but not exclusively so. The Cooper School uses extra-curricular activities, assemblies and a varied pastoral programme through form activities, talks and presentations from outside agencies, trips and visits, a broad and balanced academic curriculum, our CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) Strategy as well as support from a range of staff and a pastoral structure that helps students to develop into responsible, respectful and active citizens who are able to play their part and become actively involved in public life as adults. These are timetabled lessons each week and students are taught in a carousel across the year and will cover:
